Carers Breakthrough

CarersCounselling and Peer Support Activities for Carers

Caring for a loved one who is unwell can be extremely rewarding, but it can also be very demanding and can take a significant impact on your life. As part of the Southend Carers' Hub, we offer counselling and listening support to carers. We also run a range of peer support activities for unpaid carers across Southend Borough.

Our Peer Support Groups provide a range of opportunities for carers to come together for some well-needed respite, support, and friendship. Attending a group can help reduce stress, and gives carers access to an important social network where you can speak with others in similar caring positions. We can also provide support in accessing other agencies and services.

"I have done the mindfulness stress reduction based course at Trust Links which was quite helpful. This is another angle on something which I think can be considered to be universally beneficial because it helps one to live in the present, and keep one’s feet on the ground when the circumstances of the life that we face are very difficult”. - John, Carer

The groups cover a wide range of activities to ensure we have something for everyone. Our groups include IT, walking, yoga, a book group, digital arts, fitness, OCD and Anxiety Management and a monthly carers group. See below for a full list of our sessions.
