- Growing Onwards
Growing Onwards is
the newest addition to the Trust Links family of projects. Building
on what we know, Trust Links has developed a training programme
that targets people who are long term unemployed and on Incapacity
benefit.
Growing Onwards in partnership
with the Chameleon Academy have put together an eight week training
programme, that will not only offer valuable work experience
to learners in a supportive environment but also give the opportunities
to gain qualifications in Personal Development Skills, Skills
for Life and Horticulture based study if required. The courses
are 8 weeks in duration with up to three days per week studying,
working or learning on a programme targeted to the learners individual
need. There will be eight courses in total commencing from September
2006 – December 2007.
July 2006 saw the commencement of the Trust Links Training centre
on the Growing Together Gardens main plot, this has been designed
as an eco-build and when completed will offer office space for
the staff and a training space for both internal and external uses.
It is aimed that the training
centre will also offer a café open
to the public.
As part of Trust Links commitment to training, the organisation
is advancing towards National Open College network (NOCN) approved
centre status, which will give more flexibility to deliver a great
variety of courses in the future.
