Trust Links thrilled to be part of the inaugral World Cup-on-Sea fundraising tournament

Our team recently enjoyed a change of scene as we spent the day at Southend United Football Club for inaugural World Cup-on-Sea fundraising tournament organised by Nelson Chambers, AJ Chambers and Lloyds Bank.

At Trust Links we have four therapeutic gardens in South Essex, with Growing Together Westcliff, situated on Prittlewell Chase, just a stone’s throw from Roots Hall Stadium. Our team arrived en masse to welcome local businesses taking part in the 7-a-side battle, and the event raised more than seven thousand pounds for us; money that will be ploughed straight back into helping develop our sites, and reach out to more local people in need of support.

At Trust Links we support around 1,000 people each year, and our therapeutic gardens are enjoyed by local residents too. We are also proud to manage REACH, the South East Essex Recovery College and offer vital support and free counselling to carers. On the day, staff, members, and volunteers, all come together to thank and support local businesses that were involved in what we can only describe as "a wonderful day with oodles of camaraderie, sportsmanship and community spirit.”

Trust Links Chief Executive, Matt King said "We are so grateful to have been involved in the first World Cup on Sea this year. Thank you so much to A J Chambers, Nelson Chambers and Lloyds Bank for supporting us by organising the event, helping us to raise vital funds whilst enabling local businesses and the community to have a really enjoyable day at Roots Hall. I would also like to thank the amazing Trust Links staff, volunteers and members for volunteering on the day, helping make it such a great success."

He continued "Suicide is the biggest killer of men aged 20 to 49, so our work with people with mental health problems in South Essex could not be more vital. Our Growing Together projects and REACH Recovery College truly transform lives, helping many people to combat depression, anxiety and severe mental illness. The support of the 28 football teams that joined in with World Cup on Sea was phenomenal and we look forward to making it an even bigger and better event next year.”
