Trust Links

Bringing a little floral colour to the council offices

At Trust Links , we support over 1,000 people a year and have four community gardens in South East Essex. One of our gardens, Growing Together Westcliff, is just a short distance from the Southend Borough Council Offices at the Civic Centre so we have brought a little floral colour to the area with our ‘Feel Good Garden’.

Inspired by the Chelsea Flower Show, our Garden Designer, Tracey Brownlow, designed this portable garden to brighten up the community, and the garden will be in the Atrium at the Civic Centre for all to enjoy over August and September.

She said "Gardening has so many therapeutic benefits, and we see a vast improvement in people’s wellbeing after spending time at our Growing Together projects. With most people now estimated to spend 80-90% of their day indoors, we wanted to bring a little of the outdoors to the Civic Centre for staff and visitors to enjoy”.

The installation has been built by volunteers and features beautiful plants grown by members at Growing Together Westcliff which can be found on the corner of Prittlewell Chase and Fairfax Drive, and we hope many will stop by and enjoy its beauty and intricate detail. Complete with bug houses, a mock bee hive, and a whole host of beautiful flowers, it is an eco-friendly, aesthetically pleasing garden for all to enjoy.

Councillor Ian Gilbert, Leader of the Council and Executive Councillor for Housing & Communities said  "I’m really impressed with this garden and would like to thank all the volunteers at Trust Links for their great work. We want to be a green council and a green town, so this is brilliant to see.”
