We were delighted to receive a donation of £524 through the Green Token scheme at Waitrose. 2019 marked ten years of the Green Token scheme, which splits £1000 each month between three local causes - and Trust Links recently received over 50 percent of the total sum.
Trust Links were featured in the scheme in October 2019, which sees shoppers at the supermarket vote for their chosen charity to receive a percentage of the £1000. At the end of the month Waitrose announced that Trust Links would take a donation of £524, over half the total amount up for donation.
The results of the scheme were a welcome surprise to Matt King, Chief Executive of Trust Links. Matt said: "We are delighted with the generosity that the community has shown to Trust Links. One in four people are affected by poor mental health and suicide is the biggest killer of men under 49.
"Trust Links work hard across Southend to provide much-needed support to the people that need us. We wouldn’t be able to do this without the support of the local community so thank you to everyone who voted for us at Waitrose.”
