Trust Links launches Carers Café

As part of its carers peer support activities Trust Links will be launching a drop in café on Thursday 11th May, between 1.30 pm – 3.30 pm, at Garons Cricket Pavillion, Garon Park, Eastern Avenue, Southend.  The café is for full or part time unpaid carers in the Southend Borough who care for a friend or family member with a disability, illness or mental health problem.  After its initial launch the café will run every other Thursday afternoon (fortnightly).
All unpaid carers are welcome to come along to the drop in café for a chat and a cuppa.  On the first day carers will be asked how they would like the café to be run, for example, whether they would like activities to take place or are interested in a topical speaker attending.  The drop in sessions will be social events where carers can come along to have time to themselves and to meet other carers. Carers will help shape the activities that are run at the café.
The café venue, Garons Cricket Pavillion, looks out over the cricket pitch and wildlife area which makes for a scenic and relaxing environment.  There will be the opportunity for those who wish to take leisurely walks around the grounds.
Trust Links are looking for volunteers to help run the café.  This could include making  tea and coffee,  phoning around attendees to remind them of the dates the café will be open  to see if they will be attending.
If you would like to come along as a carer or become involved as a volunteer, then please get in touch, we would love to hear from you.
The programme is funded by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council.
