Local carers got together recently for an early Christmas treat at the Toby Carvery in Southend.
We currently support over 350 unpaid carers in Southend through a combination of free peer support groups, activities, and counselling and members of our monthly group for carers of people suffering with mental health conditions recently met for an early Christmas meal and some much needed time out.
At Trust Links we recognise that caring for someone you love can be challenging, and we reach out to hundreds of unpaid carers each year to provide critical support. Muriel Ray from Eastwood has been a carer for 25 years, and attended the recent Christmas meal at the Toby Carvery on Eastern Esplanade with other carers. Muriel attends our monthly group and free counselling sessions and told us "I find from week to week I can discuss the challenges I am having, and it gives me strength to use different coping skills.”
She continued "I don’t know where I would be today without Trust Links. It’s important to meet carers to know you’re not alone”.
