Caring for a loved one who is unwell can be extremely rewarding. It can also be hugely demanding, and care duties can take a significant impact on your life. It is so important to look after your own mental and physical health as well as caring for loved ones. As part of the Southend Carers Network, we offer counselling and peer support to unpaid carers in the Southend area.
We are delighted to have reopened face-to-face services and are maintaining our digital offer and engagement. Along with the return of some face-to-face groups, we are continuing our telephone support. Please get in touch with our friendly team or Southend Carers for more information on receiving support as a carer.
Coronavirus – Telephone and Online Services
In these difficult times it is more important than ever to look after your mental health and wellbeing, and the mental health of your loved ones. Counselling and support for carers continues over telephone and Skype, and our Carers Support Groups have been meeting over Zoom. For unpaid carers, you can receive listening support over the telephone from Southend Carers. Please refer all carers to Southend Carers on 01702 393 933 or email email@example.com They will undertake an initial assessment and pass appropriate carers back to Trust Links.
We know how difficult this period has been for unpaid carers. Please do make use of this free provision if you would like – it is so important to take care of your own mental health and wellbeing!
Our Peer Support Groups provide a range of opportunities for unpaid carers to relax, share their problems, and find friendship with like-minded people. Attending a group can help reduce stress, and groups give carers access to an important social network where you can speak with other people in similar situations. We can also help you gain access to other agencies and services
Counselling and Peer Support Activities for Carers
The groups cover a wide range of activities to ensure we have something for everyone. We run groups for walking, yoga, reading, digital arts, fitness, and OCD and Anxiety Management. There is also a larger monthly carers’ group.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01702 393 933 to find out more, or to register for our counselling and listening support services.
