Trust Links: South East Essex’s leading independent charity for mental health & wellbeing

Our mental health and wellbeing has never been more important which means there has never been a better time for you to join Trust Links!

We run a range of projects and services to help address mental health needs in Essex, whilst seeking to improve the natural environment and people’s connection to nature.

We are now expanding our services both geographically within Essex and also with new projects such as Therapy Links, our new counselling service.  As well as this new work we are still running innovative services in local communities including Growing Together therapeutic gardens, REACH Recovery College, REACH Wellbeing Hub, children and youth provision. Mental health, wellbeing, recovery and the environment are at the heart of our inclusive approach.

We are proud recipients of a national Green Flag award for the best health initiative 2021 and also the People Insight award for being an Outstanding Workplace 2021.

Could you be our Chairperson?

Trust Links is an innovative, award-winning and expanding local independent mental health and wellbeing charity, growing communities and transforming lives in Essex, with an international reach. We are seeking a new chairperson who is passionate about our cause and want to use their skills and experience to help us make a difference to people’s lives. As the chairperson, you would be facilitating and chairing the board of trustees, line managing the CEO, and overseeing the development of the charity’s governance and strategic direction. Would you like to make a real difference through this exciting opportunity?

We work with more than 4,000 people per year through: five Growing Together community garden projects providing therapeutic horticulture and positive activities for adults with mental health, mild learning disabilities and school groups, with a further three in development; REACH Recovery College and Wellbeing Hub working in partnership with local agencies to provide assessment, psychoeducational and vocational training and peer support for adults with mental health problems; Eco Days environmental education programme; and innovative projects for children, youth and families.

We have grown significantly since our foundation in 2000 and have ambitious plans for further expansion and development. Building on successful delivery in Southend-on-Sea, Rochford and Castle Point, we are developing new provision in Basildon and Braintree, and are developing plans for other areas in Essex. Through our Let’s Grow Together project, we are supporting groups across the UK and internationally to learn from our impactful Growing Together model.

We are fortunate to have a skilled, experienced and diverse board of trustees including people with expertise in law, finance, strategy, business, enterprise, inclusion, marketing, social media, education, and with mental health lived experience. You will be joining a well-established and high performing board and will get a full induction and any necessary training. We have a strong funding mix including multiyear grants, NHS contracts, personal budgets, and have recently invested in corporate partnerships and community fundraising.

Trustees meet for 2 hours every other month and have an annual awayday in September. Additional time is required to read the papers and there are a range of opportunities to get involved in Trust Links’s work should you have the time and wish to do more.

For further information see our Chairperson recruitment pack. For an optional informal discussion about the role please call our CEO Matt King on 01702 213134 or email chiefexec@trustlinks.org

Application deadline 10th August 2022.
