18th – 20th June 2020: DUE TO OUR CURRENT CLIMATE WE HAVE HAD TO CANCEL THIS EVENT
Our second cycle challenge of the year is a three day cycle from London to Paris, one of the most iconic routes across Europe. Over three days in June 2020, we will ride just over 183 miles and pass through some of the most scenic parts of Southern England and Northern France – leaving London and finishing at the Eiffel Tower.
Join us, or sponsor one of our riders, and you’ll be doing something amazing to support people experiencing poor mental health in South East Essex.
Day One London to Newhaven – approx. 100 km / 63 miles
After registration and cycle safety checks, we leave London to the south and head to the coast via Surrey and East Sussex. Passing through quaint villages and towns like Turner’s Hill, Ardingley, and Haywards Heath. We embark a channel-crossing ferry at Newhaven, where there will be a break and something to eat. After a late landing in Dieppe there will be a short ride to the hotel before some dinner and a much-needed rest.
Day Two Dieppe to Beauvais – approx. 104 km / 65 miles
After breakfast we leave Dieppe and cycle through some of the most picturesque countryside in Northern France. The terrain will be smooth and relatively flat in the morning along the famous ‘Avenue Verte’, before getting stuck into Northern France’s rolling hills. We will break for lunch in a typical French village, then head through the charming towns of Serqueux and Songeons on the way to our final destination, Beauvais. You can experience the historic town centre and learn about the WWII heritage, visiting the cathedral and sightseeing the beautiful chateaux.
Day Three Beauvais to Paris – approx. 96 km / 60 miles
The final day of cycling is the shortest! From Beauvais we press on through the undulating French countryside towards Paris, on a whistle-stop tour of French villages. Much of the day will be spent in the beautiful Oise Natural Regional Park, a natural beauty hotspot that boasts three forests. Soon enough, the quiet lanes will give way to the bigger streets as we enter the outer departments of Paris before finally reaching the familiar sight of the Eiffel Tower. We’ll pass the Arc de Triompe and cycle along the Champs Elysees – a fitting end to a truly amazing day of cycling!
Day Four – Free Day in Paris
Before returning to Britain you will have a chance to see the sights in Paris, shopping, eating and drinking in the City of Light. Chapeau Events will return your bikes to the UK and you can rest your legs worry-free!
