From 6th July, Southend’s leading mental health charity, Trust Links, are finally reopening their Growing Together therapeutic garden in Westcliff on a limited basis.
By putting guidelines and measurements in place, up to 6 members will be invited to attend the site at either 9:30 to 11am, or 1pm to 2:30pm from Monday to Friday. The sessions are organised by staff, and 2 members of the team will be available on site for support.
The tranquil outdoors space at the community garden has been rearranged to allow for a 2 metre distance catch up with friends, staff, and our pets – something that has been greatly missed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Other safety measurements have also been put in place to allow members of Growing Together to continue to enjoy the benefits of therapeutic gardening while maintaining the highest level of hygiene possible. This includes requesting members bring their own boots, gloves, and beverages.
This reopening comes as an additional offer to the other amendments the charity has made in response to the pandemic; such as offering live wellbeing videos through Facebook, and vital telephone and video calls to support its members.
Plans have also been put in place to allow a one-to-one meeting with support staff for any members of the Hub, REACH Recovery College and unpaid carers. Again, this will take place outdoors to reduce transmission, and will be available through appointments for those whose support needs surpass telephone support.
We are continuing to review all of our projects to phase in our return to face to face working, whilst maintaining a COVID secure environment in line with government guidance.
