New Blooming Well family project is underway, and here’s what you’ve been up to so far

The team at Trust Links have continued to support the local community through the pandemic, this time targeting families with their new project, Blooming Well. With many children unable to return to school, Blooming Well was created as a free resource for children and their families to enjoy between June and September 2020. The project offers a range of topic-based activities for families to promote creativity, wellbeing, and engagement with nature. The project has been funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK, as part of the COVID-19 emergency response.

Helen Bushell, Head of Funding for East of England at The National Lottery Community Fund, said: “The strength we’re seeing in communities across the East of England is inspiring. Although we’re beginning to see lockdown restrictions ease, community organisations – big and small – are still grappling with the impact caused by the crisis.”

“Projects like Blooming Well keep communities connected and reach those who need the most help. Our priority is to continue getting funding, which is more vital than ever before, out to community groups so they can rebuild and recover from this pandemic.”

We partnered with local foodbanks, social care, young carers, refugee groups, looked after children’s services and special educational needs networks to deliver 500 activity boxes to families in Southend and Canvey Island. In addition, the activity sheets and videos are available online for anyone to download and use for free. The project works by releasing an exciting new topic each week.
