The St Laurence Community Orchard is a one and a half acre wildlife haven – orchards and land used to stretch across the whole area to the north of Southend-on-Sea. Trust Links have been maintaining the Orchard for the benefit of the environment and local people for the last 15 years. Each January we invite the community to wake the Orchard up with Wassailing and in October we celebrate the harvest Apple Day. We maintain the Orchard with monthly work parties throughout the growing season.
This is where we need your help. We would love to install a composting toilet at the Orchard so that people who come to the Orchard can use it when we have work parties, educational trips and community events. Currently we do not have any facilities at the Orchard, so we have to keep our activities short, or visitors sometimes drive off to the local supermarket.
With the help from the lovely people at Aviva who have kindly offered to match all donation up to £50 we have the opportunity to grow the community at St Laurence Orchard.
